of minor prophets and their prostitute wives

"Of Minor Prophets And Their Prostitute Wives"

all the time you were burning my letters
you were only acting the part
you think with out me you'll get on much better
but you don't even know your own heart

come home darling come home quickly
come home darling all is forgiven
so come home quickly

i treated you as if you were a princess
you treated me like a cop
i gave you boundaries to save you from certain death
dangling from the end of a rope

but you're still playing for a love you'll never find
outside these arms of mine

the whole town is one step behind you
with the hangman on call
they've got the judge and you're convicted without a plea
but darling they will listen to me

Pedro the Lion

The idea of a love that follows through is lost on most people now. Being in love unconditionally is not something our crowd is really into. There are so many thoughts that go through your mind when you watch a loved one fall to pieces and in this case one concept that I have begun to think about is God's love for Israel. Not only is it a real and tangible story, but it's also this amazing allegory of the chase that He's still on for all of our hearts. He knows every sin and every thought we have, and knows the consequences. But then he wants to take us away from it and talk tenderly to us. I just haven't figured that out. In Hosea he talks about Israel (using Hosea's prostitute wife as an example) and that there will be severe problems because of her behavior, but then God says:
"Therefore I am now going to allure her;
I will lead her into the desert
and speak tenderly to her.

15 There I will give her back her vineyards,
and will make the Valley of Achor [a] a door of hope.
There she will sing [b] as in the days of her youth,
as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

He's madly in love. Only true love would hand everything back when there was no reason for deserving it. Only true love would say "Please, call me husband". What a broken sad lot we are for not realizing our one true love desires us without strings attatched. Finally, when we do understand we only want to love him in return and it has nothing to do with works.

I cannot wait for the day when my brother finally heeds the quiet and soothing call of "Come home darling."
