Today is our 3rd Anniversary.
Not too terribly long in the grand scheme of things. However, I would like to point out a few highlights of our marriage in list form:
- We've made two amazing babies.
- We've moved 4 times.
- We've had 5 cars. Two of those were ours before we met, 2 were given to us. We aren't rich.
-We've become the proud owners of 5 animals. We had fish and a rat. None of those are with us at present.
-We've been to 6 or 7 concerts. Not including America Dramatica shows. :)
- We've been on TV once. Yep. Well, sorta twice because we were at a taping of Dancing with the Stars at Disneyland. On accident. We were also pretty obnoxious about it, too.
- We've been to: NYC, Washington DC, Seattle, Virginia, Texas, San Diego, Cabo San Lucas, Puerta Vallerta, Mazatlan, Los Angeles, and several other towns, cities and places.
- We've been tattooed together.
- We've been to Disneyland countless times.
- We've ridden planes, trains and automobiles together.

Those are just a few experiences we've had together. I told Cameron when were dating that I would go with him anywhere and do anything with him. Which in hindsight seems to prove braver than romantic. I never pictured myself in Orange County. I never thought that we would already have two kids. When I signed up for this I didn't know what our lives were going to be. I just knew that I wanted my life to be with him. We're easy together. That's not to say that life together is easy, but it's to say that we make sense to each other and know that we're meant for one another. I find it a bit demeaning when someone who has had a "starter marriage" says: "I was just too young and didn't know what I was in for." They are now divorced and try to explain away a mistake. I take that pretty personally- I was young ( I AM YOUNG...) when I got married. I was only 6 months into being able to drink legally... for most people that's when the party starts. I knew fully what I was getting into. Marriage wasn't about me, it wasn't about my needs, it was about living fully for another person and creating a life with him. It's not about easy romance.
Cameron and I are good together. We're not always good to each other, but we learn. We've forgotten along the way sometimes but we've always been best friends...
The other day I went to the Fender Museum here in Corona and they had a Johnny Cash exhibit. Mr. Cash is a hero of mine- I will admit that my interest in him piqued when WALK THE LINE came to a theatre near me. (Actually right after our wedding, we went on opening day.) Since then I've fallen in love with his music, but only because of his story behind it. Johnny Cash loved June Carter. Not always when it was right, especially at the expense of his first marriage. He was the first to admit that. (Read his autobiography, CASH. Good reading.) But he did love her and he loved her until the day he died. They aren't his lyrics, but his version of ROSE OF MY HEART is brilliant. If I would have known about it at our wedding, we would have played it. Here are the lyrics:

We're the best partners this world's ever seen,
Together as close as can be.
Sometimes it's hard to find time in between,
To tell you what you are to me.

You are the rose of my heart,
You are the love of my life.
A flower not fading nor falling apart,
If you're tired, rest your head on my arm.
Rose of my heart.

When sorrow holds you in her arms of clay,
It's rain drops that fall from your eyes.
Your smile's like the sun come to earth for a day,
You brighten my blackest of skies.

You are the rose of my heart,
You are the love of my life.
A flower not fading nor falling apart,
If you're cold, let my love make you warm.
Rose of my heart.

So hard times or easy times, what do I care,
There's nothing I'd change if I could.
The tears and the laughter are things that we share,
Your hand in mine makes all times good.

You are the rose of my heart,
You are the love of my life.
A flower not fading nor falling apart,
You're my harbor in life's restless storm.Rose of my heart.

Rose of my heart

Here's to Cameron being the rose of my heart. :)
